Liverpool Plains Shire Council is progressing plans for the replacement of the cherished swinging bridge, ensuring its design meets community expectations while addressing resilience to future flooding events as much as is practicably possible.

Suspension bridges are particularly vulnerable to flooding. To enhance the new bridge's durability, extensive hydrological analysis has been conducted to determine potential flood heights and the required bridge elevation. As a result, the structure will be raised by approximately 200mm, and the sag of the bridge will be removed.

The new bridge will maintain the aesthetic charm of the former structure, offering a similar visual appeal while being better equipped to withstand environmental challenges. This project reflects LPSC's commitment to preserving the heritage and functionality of key community assets.
